We use your legal name on your TAFEcard and official documents like your ɫֱacademic transcript and certificate. If you’ve legally changed your name or corrected your name or date of birth, you’ll need to:
Update your details with the .

Gather evidence of the changes – there are examples of the evidence we accept on the form.
Take your completed form and evidence to your local ɫֱcustomer service team or attach the completed form and your evidence to an .
If you haven’t legally changed your name or date of birth, but they are incorrect on our records, complete an . You’ll need to provide evidence showing the correct details.
If your citizenship, residency or visa status has changed, let us know using our . You’ll need to provide evidence of the change.
We set your course fees when you enrol. If your citizenship, residency or visa status changes later, your fees for your current enrolment will stay the same.
Remember to update your details with other government services and organisations. This will avoid problems where our records don’t match relevant government records. For example, your study support payments from Centrelink may get affected.
Some government records might include your sex and gender. You may also want to check that the organisations have your correct contact details.

At TAFE NSW, everyone belongs. We recognise that your name is an important part of your identity. You may use a name that is different from your legal name.
Let us know if you have a preferred or affirmed name that you’d like us to use. We’ll do our best to use this name when we talk with you, in emails and in ɫֱlearning systems and tools like your Student Hub.
In some cases, we need to use your legal name, for example on your TAFEcard and enrolment and academic records. We may also ask for your legal name to help us find your records. We’ll handle your information respectfully and want you to feel safe, supported and included.
